LFCC News March 2021

With all club activities paused during the lockdown, there's not been a lot of club news to report. With spring, and now the relaxation of the lockdown around the corner, we hope to have rides up and running again soon.

AGM

We are pleased to announce that all committee roles were filled during our virtual AGM on the 8th of February. Andy Packer has now taken over from Rob Dyson as the club's membership secretary - many thanks to Rob Dyson for his years of service to the club and numerous thoughtful contributions under 'Any Other Business' to committee meetings.

We had a brief technical issue in the membership handover which is now fixed, which means there are a few outstanding applications from the last few weeks, these will all be resolved very shortly.

LFCC Women's Advocate

As part of the club's commitment to women's cycling, and to encourage women into the club, Louise Hughes has taken on the committee role of 'Women's Advocate' (we may change the title if we come up with something better).

In the first instance, Louise will help to signpost women to different parts of the club and to put like-minded women in touch with each other. If this is of interest to you, please email Louise on women@leicesterforest.com.

LFCC Bursary

Applications for the LFCC Member's bursary are now open, and will close on Friday 30th April 2021, 23:59. You can find details of the members bursary, and how to apply here.

Open Time Trial Organisers

Our time trial secretary Matt Finch, is looking for event organisers for this year's open TTs. If time trials are your thing, and you'd like to get involved helping to organising ours, please put your head above the parapet and get in touch with Matt by email at tt@leicesterforest.com. As with all club events, we need club members to make them happen.

Club Email Addresses

All club email addresses have now been migrated over to the .com domain. Please only use .com and not .org.uk going forward else we will miss your emails. You can contact the committee using the email addresses listed on the contacts page.

Resumption of Club Rides

We are planning to resume Saturday and Sunday club rides in line with the latest guidance after the 29th of March. As we are a British Cycling affiated club, it is permissible for us to have groups of up to 15 riders, however, the committee have decided that we will limit groups to a maximum of 10 riders.

Smaller groups will help relieve some of the anxiety around starting to ride in groups again. Groups bigger the 10 tend to annoy drivers and get more difficult to manage on the road.

For Saturdays and Sundays, we will be asking members to sign up in advance to allow us to manage numbers and keep records, as we did in the summer and autumn last year. More details will follow.

For the avoidance of any doubt, club member organised rides e.g. chaingang, badgers etc are not formal club rides and will therefore be subject to the rule of six when group rides resume.

And Finally

A massive congratulations to Libby Bell who has signed for the Garden Shed UK - SCOTT - Verge Sport Cyclocross Team! Libby will continue Leicester Forest CC member racing road for the club this year.

See you out on the road in a few short weeks.
